We started in 2017 as Smoke & Games and then became The Modern Arcade of Rock Hill in 2021. Our goal is to provide a venue that caters to the growth of the gaming community. There were no venues in Rock Hill that provided an opportunity for gamers to gather in person as most activity went virtual. In-person interactions between gamers were becoming a thing of arcades past. Gamers now have a place to meet those who share similar interests & passions!

Crucial partnerships were necessary to make any of this possible.
Winthrop University, Winthrop Athletics, and Winthrop ESports were main supporters of competitive Esports in Rock Hill. The program started to achieve national recognition and accolades at the highest collegiate level of play.

Our goals aligned to allow us to collaborate and provide a technology-driven venue for the Winthrop Esports teams and provide a space for the local gaming community. The Modern Arcade will provide continued support that grants Winthrop and the Rock Hill gaming community an opportunity to grow together.
